About the department
The Department of Master of Computer Applications (MCA) was established in the year 2008, offers three-year full time course spread over six semesters with an intake of 60 students. Graduates in Computer Science, Computer Applications and Information Technology can pursue two year MCA degree along with second year of regular MCA programme. The programme is duly approved by AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to the Anna University, Chennai.
The most experienced, talented and dedicated regular faculty, a team of highly specialized resource persons are associated with the programme. The programme aims at bringing together the students from diverse geographical and educational background like Science, Arts, Commerce and Engineering and grooms their conceptual and analytical skills so as to streamline the talents to adapt to the ever demanding requirements of the modern business world. To learn recent trends in technologies, the department organizes many technical events. Every year the department produces many university ranks. Special care and attention are paid to students’ personal and professional projects throughout the MCA curriculum.
Programme Educational Objectives
- Apply computing and mathematical knowledge to identify, formulate, design, implement and develop software solutions for problems across a broad range of application domains.
- Communicate effectively as an individual and also as a leader in diverse groups and in multi-disciplinary setting.
- Develop the professional ethics in work and realize the role of self in the development of society with a strive for independent and life-long learning in the broadest context ever-flourishing technological changes.
Programme Outcomes:
- Computational Knowledge: Apply knowledge of computing fundamentals, computing specialization, mathematics, and domain knowledge appropriate for the computing specialization to the abstraction and conceptualization of computing models from defined problems and requirements.
- Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature, and solve complex computing problems reaching substantiated conclusions using fundamental principles of mathematics, computing sciences, and relevant domain disciplines.
